August 28, 2008

Elsie has been working on some teeth the last few weeks and they have finally arrived. She has two bottom teeth that have broken through.

One of her new favorite pastimes is to play with her hair as shown in the picture below. She grabs the side with her right hand all of the time.

This week Sarah and the kids went with some friends to the Algoma beach to enjoy a sunny day.

Owen has been talking about lighthouses lately so he was happy to have his picture taken with one.

Since Elsie's hair is getting so long, we decided she should have some pigtails. Isn't she cute!!

We tried giving some water to Elsie today and she didn't really get it. She pretty much just let it run down her chin.

Happy Half Birthday, Elsie!

Elsie is six months old today! It's hard to believe that half a year has gone by already. We had a mini celebration (which mostly consisted of party hats).

She also had her six month checkup today. She is 27 3/4" tall, which is the 98th percentile (!) and 16 lbs 2 oz, which is the 55th percentile. The pediatrician said she was very sociable, as she "yelled" frequently during the visit. It's her latest thing; we think she's just trying to be heard over Owen! This was our first time seeing a new doctor, since the ped we had since O. was a newborn decided to stay at home with his kids while his wife went back to work. We were pretty bummed, but like the new guy so far. Ray in particular appreciates that he's a bow tie wearer.

Kids and Their Ideas

Apparently Owen thought dumping buckets of sand on his head was a good idea. When I asked him what he was doing, he just said, "It looks like I'm in a bird's nest," whatever that means.

In other non-crazy preschooler news, Elsie is now sitting up at the table with us in her highchair. She feels pretty cool and proud that she now gets to sit up at the table instead of in her swing.
