Elsie's Baptism
We had Elsie baptized this weekend while we were in our hometown for Thanksgiving. Deacon Greg also baptized Owen and performed our wedding ceremony. Elsie's Godparents are Ray's uncle Mike and sister Carla.

E. had only taken her morning nap, and the baptism was held after the 4:30 Saturday Mass, so I was expecting a full meltdown. She was completely mesmerized by Greg, though, and stared intently at him the entire time. It seemed like she really knew what was going on.

She didn't even freak out when he poured the water over her head, which may qualify as a miracle, since she screams with terror the minute she gets near the bath tub. She did cry some when it was all over, but pulled it together when we posed for pictures. I think she's smarter than I give her credit for sometimes.
I made Elsie's baptism dress from dupioni silk. The pattern is from the 03/2008 issue of Ottobre Design. It was toddler sizes and bigger, so I used this tutorial to re-size it. I made a muslin of the bodice to check fit before cutting into the silk, but was still sort of shocked that it actually turned out the right size! It's so nice when a finished project looks like you envisioned it. A big thank you to my mom for doing the hem by hand for me!
The pattern for her bloomers is from KSFB and the little shrug pattern is here. It's a good thing we had a long drive, since most of the shrug was knit in the car and actually finished up the day of the baptism. The yarn is a cotton and corn blend, which I find highly amusing. It's really soft. Not at all cob-like. ;)
